Dear Sunnyvale School District Families,

As the leaves begin to turn and the air grows crisp, we welcome October and the energy it brings. This month is also Bullying Prevention Month, a reminder of our shared responsibility to ensure every student feels safe, respected, and included. Preventing bullying is a community effort between home and school, and together we can help students:

• Be kind and empathetic
• Manage difficult emotions in healthy ways
• Be Upstanders who speak up for themselves and others

We are grateful for our partnership with Project Cornerstone and invite you to a Bullying Prevention Workshop on Thursday, October 9, 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Bishop Elementary (450 N. Sunnyvale Ave.). Open to adults and youth, this session will share practical strategies for preventing bullying and supporting conversations at home. Please register here: tinyurl.com/SunnyvaleSD-PC.

This week is also Conference Week in our elementary schools—a valuable opportunity to meet with teachers, learn about your child’s progress, and discuss how we can best partner for their success.

Estimadas familias del Distrito Escolar de Sunnyvale:

A medida que las hojas comienzan a cambiar de color y el aire se vuelve fresco, damos la bienvenida a octubre y a la energía que trae consigo. Este mes también es el Mes de la Prevención del Acoso Escolar, un recordatorio de nuestra responsabilidad compartida de garantizar que cada estudiante se sienta seguro, respetado e incluido. Prevenir el acoso es un esfuerzo comunitario entre el hogar y la escuela, y juntos podemos ayudar a los estudiantes a:

• Ser amables y empáticos
• Manejar emociones difíciles de manera sana y constructiva
• Ser Defensores que se expresan por sí mismos y apoyan a los demás

Estamos agradecidos por nuestra colaboración con Project Cornerstone y los invitamos a un Taller de Prevención del Acoso Escolar el jueves 9 de octubre, de 6:00 p.m. a 7:30 p.m. en la Primaria Bishop (450 N. Sunnyvale Ave.). Abierto a adultos y jóvenes, este taller compartirá estrategias prácticas para prevenir el acoso y fortalecer las conversaciones en casa. Esta semana también es la Semana de Conferencias en nuestras escuelas primarias—una valiosa oportunidad para reunirse con los maestros, conocer el progreso académico de su hijo/a y dialogar sobre cómo podemos trabajar juntos para apoyar su éxito.
