Group of Sunnyvale supporters congratulates Congressionally recognized educators

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the remarkable recognition of two outstanding members of our district—Pat Carpio-Aguilar and Claudia Estrada—who were honored as exemplary Hispanic educators during Hispanic Heritage Month. The recognition took place at Congressman Ro Khanna's Education Town Hall at Cupertino High School this past Sunday.

We extend our deepest gratitude and congratulations to these two inspiring individuals:

  • Pat Carpio-Aguilar currently teaches at Columbia Middle School and is a dedicated Trustee on the Fremont Union High School District Board of Education.
  • Claudia Estrada serves as a vital outreach assistant at Ellis Elementary School.

We couldn't be prouder of the unwavering commitment, compassion, and professionalism Pat and Claudia bring to their roles. They are true beacons of warmth, community, and excellence in our classrooms and on our campuses, and we are incredibly grateful for the positive impact they have on our students and families every day. Both were given Certificates of Special Congressional Recognition.

"Pat Carpio-Aguilar and Claudia Estrada embody the spirit of service and dedication that defines our district," said Superintendent Gudiel R. Crosthwaite. "Their commitment to our students and their families—both inside and outside the classroom—makes a profound difference, and we are so proud to see their efforts recognized at this level."

"The recognition of Pat and Claudia during Hispanic Heritage Month is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diverse talent and leadership within our schools," added Board President Bridget Watson. "They encourage, inspire, and empower students and families to shape a better future.”

The town hall also provided an important platform for critical discussions on the future of education. We were honored to have Jesse Weinstock, a teacher from Columbia Middle School, serve as a valuable member of a panel conversation.

Mr. Weinstock engaged in discussions covering a wide range of crucial education topics, including:

  • The effects of potential Federal budget cuts on schools.
  • Concerns surrounding immigration enforcement and its impact on student families and staff.
  • The importance of protecting vital programs like student nutrition and special education services.

The discussion concluded with a powerful call to action to speak up and advocate for the protection of public education. We deeply appreciate Mr. Weinstock's advocacy for our students and schools.

We want to thank Congressman Ro Khanna for hosting this important event and providing our educators with the opportunity to connect and contribute to these vital conversations about the health and future of our public education system.
