Thank you for your interest in Volunteering at San Miguel!
Sunnyvale School District utilizes a digital form to manage school volunteers, Better Impact.
Each volunteer will create a user account to submit a volunteer application and a valid TB test. All volunteers must be approved by our district office BEFORE you are able to start volunteering at San Miguel. Volunteer clearance if only valid for the current school year and you MUST login to submit a new application each school year.
HOW TO SUBMIT A VOLUNTEER FORM:

Create a user account at the Better Impact website.
Submit your digital volunteer application and a valid TB test.
** Make sure to include all your children if enrolled in a Sunnyvale District school.APPROVAL PROCESS
- After you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation of submission email by Better Impact.
- The volunteer approval process starts at the District Office. They will review your form, your TB, and fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice.
- Once your volunteer form is approved you will receive another email from Better Impact stating that you have been approved.
- The process may take up to three weeks. Please plan accordingly. Forms cannot be expedited.
AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED:
Please contact your child’s teacher to receive further instruction on your volunteer assignment.
TB TEST:
- TB tests are valid for four years.
- Each TB test must show the following:
- Name of volunteer
- Date of test given
- Date of test read
- Induration of reading
- Test result
- If you are submitting a TB risk assessment form
- Must include the questionnaire page
- Must include the doctor's signature & Health Care Provider Name and Address
- TB Risk Assessment Form
- Incomplete TB tests will result in a delay in the process.
FINGERPRINTING CLEARANCE (IF NECESSARY)
All volunteers on field trips will need to be fingerprinted.
You will need to take a photo I.D. and Social Security Number along with the Sunnyvale School District Fingerprinting Form to a facility to be fingerprinted.
**Note: If you have previously been fingerprinted with the Sunnyvale School District, you do not need to repeat this process. However, if you have been fingerprinted with another agency you will need to be fingerprinted.
