Peace Path
Peace Path: Helping Students Resolve Conflicts Respectfully
At our school, we use the Peace Path to help students solve conflicts in a respectful, positive, and student centered way. The Peace Path teaches children important social emotional skills such as communication, empathy, active listening, problem-solving, and accountability. When a disagreement occurs, students are encouraged to walk through the Peace Path together and take turns sharing their thoughts and feelings. This process helps students understand one another, repair relationships, and find solutions that work for everyone.
How the Peace Path Works
Students take turns following the steps:
👣 I feel... when...
Share how the situation made you feel.
👣 I know that you feel... when...
Show understanding of the other person's feelings.
👣 What can I do to make it right?
Ask how you can help repair the situation.
👣 I will...
Commit to a positive action or solution.
👣 I need...
Clearly express what you need moving forward.
👣 Thank you
Acknowledge each other's effort to resolve the conflict.
👣 From now on I will...
State how you will handle things differently in the future.
🤝 Shake Hands and Leave in Peace
End the conversation respectfully and move forward together.
